We want your trip to be as pleasant as possible, from the moment your flight lands at the airport to the moment you board the plane back home. Although it may seem that your stay at the airport does not form part of the destination of your trip, you should bear in mind that it does have an influence on the experience, as it will be the first and last memory of this magnificent getaway.

That is why we are going to explain all the services and spaces that you can find in the terminals of the different airports in Catalonia, we want your visit to be pleasant and enjoy, to the maximum, the hours you spend in them.

In addition, at Shuttle2Sun we offer private transfer services and shared transfer services, low-cost and sustainable, so you don’t have to worry about the transfer to your hotel and start living your adventure from now on. Remember that these services are available from Barcelona-El Prat Airport and also from Reus Airport, Barcelona Port, Girona Airport and Camp de Tarragona AVE train station

Get to know the airports on the Catalan coast

First, you should bear in mind that the coast of Catalonia has three main airports, which receive many flights every week: Barcelona-El Prat Airport, Reus Airport and Girona Airport

The most important of all in terms of activity and passenger traffic is Barcelona-El Prat Airport, which is located just a few kilometres from the centre of the Catalan capital; just 1 hour and a half from destinations such as Salou, PortAventura, Cambrils, La Pineda and Tarragona, on Costa Dorada; and just 1 hour and 20 minutes from towns such as Girona, Lloret de Mar, Blanes and Platja d’Aro, on Costa Brava. You can find more information about its facilities in our article “8 curiosities about Barcelona-El Prat Airport“.

This large airport handles more than 50 million passengers every year, and therefore has two different terminals: Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. It is surprising to know that the oldest is the one we know as Terminal 2, inaugurated in 1963, and which underwent its first transformation with the arrival of the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games. Terminal 1 did not begin to be built until 1991, and came into operation less than 20 years ago, in 2009.

In the case of Reus Airport, its size is much smaller, with just over 1 million annual users, concentrated mainly in the months closest to the summer. Its facilities are located about 10 kilometres from the cities of Reus and Tarragona, so they are very close to the main destinations in the area. It also connects different international destinations with Costa Dorada.

It should also be noted that Reus Airport has been recognised as ‘The Best Airport in Europe’, with less than two million passengers, by the Airports Council International (ACI).

Lastly, Girona Airport, no less important, is in the heart of the province of Girona, in La Selva region, and is a direct connection to Costa Brava, which is home to the sun and beach destinations par excellence, such as Tossa de Mar, among many others. This infrastructure welcomes more than 1.5 million passengers every year.

In addition, both services guarantee you the possibility to modify or cancel your booking, up to 48 hours in advance, in case of any unforeseen event or last-minute change, whether due to flight delay, cancellation or change of dates, among other reasons. Shuttle2Sun services are also available at Camp de Tarragona AVE train station.

Catering and shopping establishments

These three airports have a wide range of restaurants and shops where you can buy souvenirs of your trip and other items.

You’ll find cafés where you can have lunch or a snack, as well as restaurants with a wide variety of dishes, from Mediterranean to Catalan and international cuisine, so you can enjoy a bite to eat and spend some time before your flight.

In addition, its many shopping stores offer a wide range of food for sale, from sweets and chocolates; perfumery and cosmetics; books and magazines; and clothing and accessories, from costume jewellery to luxury products, to make your stay at the airport a shopping experience.

Other services

If you are travelling with children, you should bear in mind that these airports have areas dedicated to the little ones, so that they can enjoy their stay and have a good time. You can also borrow child seats free of charge so that you can move around the boarding areas with them comfortably.

If you have luggage with you, if you prefer, you can also choose the free loan service of luggage carrier equipped with Maxi-Cosi or child seats, which you must request at the information points available at Aena.

These are the most important tips if you land at any of the airports on the Catalan coast. Remember also that Shuttle2Sun offers its private transfer services and shared transfer services, low-cost and sustainable, so that you can reach your destination from Barcelona-El Prat Airport, Reus Airport, Barcelona Port, Girona Airport and Camp de Tarragona AVE train station
