Roda de Berà on Costa Dorada  

Twenty kilometers north from the city of Tarragona and seventy kilometers south from the city of Barcelona, there is Roda de Berà, a town in Tarragona that was a stopping place on the Via Augusta. 

The Arch of Berà is one of the best known and best examples of a monumental arch, built around the year 13 BC during the rule of Emperor Augustus. Declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco, it has about 10 meters high and you can see its impressive figure if you drive along the N-340 road. 

The beaches of Punta d’en Guineu, Cal Guinovart, Long Beach, Pallliseta and Francàs form the three kilometers of coastline bathed by the Mediterranean Sea. These wide beaches of fine golden sand that allow you to enjoy a day of sun and beach on the shores of the Mediterranean, with one of its beaches awarded the Blue Flag.

In addition, you can visit the hermitage of the Virgin of Berà Renaissance style and with magnificent views of the coast of Tarragona, a perfect place to relax and enjoy an incredible landscape.  

You can also practice water sports and stroll along the coastal path, through which you will reach key places such as the Ermita de la Virgen de Bará, with Renaissance aswell, and with magnificent views of the coast.  

The Roc de Sant Gaietà is one of the most enigmatic places in the town, as we mentioned in our article “The most charming villages of the Costa Dorada“. Also, there is the Radio Museum of Luis de Olmo, a place you can not miss if you are passionate about the radio. It was opened in 2012 and is located in the civic center of the Roca Foradada, containing more than 500 radio sets inside it, with pieces dating back to the nineteenth century.   

There is the hermitage of the Virgin of Barà too and it’s built on the ruins of another church of the twelfth century. Also, you can visit the reinacentist church of San Bartolomé and the chapel of Mas Carreras,which was built in the seventeenth century and located in the outskirts of the town.   

Roda de Berà enjoys a mild temperature throughout the year, even in the winter months, thanks to its proximity to the Mediterranean Sea. It is a perfect place to spend a few days resting and disconnecting.
