Sagrada Familia in Barcelona

Sagrada Familia in Barcelona is one of the most important and emblematic Catholic churches. It was designed by Antoni Gaudí in the last part of the 19th century, a modernist work that, to this day, has not yet been completed.

This work was intended to be the perfect temple, a construction that presents the life of Jesus and the history of faith. With 18 towers in honour of important biblical figures and a cross that will reach a height of 172 metres, Sagrada Família will be the tallest building in the Catalan capital and the tallest church in the world

Once the artist Antoni Gaudí died, he left all the plans and models inside the building, which suffered a fire during the Spanish Civil War and destroyed some of this information, so we will never see exactly what Gaudí imagined, even though the work is finished.

From inside, you can marvel at the incredible play of colours and lights that can be seen thanks to the sunlight coming through the stained-glass windows, which makes a difference whether you enter during the day or in the evening. Furthermore, from the inside you can admire spectacular views of the city. In the case of the tower of the Nativity façade, access is via a narrow spiral staircase that is not suitable for everyone. If you cannot access the upper part of this tower, you will have to opt for the Passion Tower. We highly recommend visiting the towers, as they are fundamental elements of Gaudí’s work and will leave you in awe.
